There is free High Speed Wi-Fi available for which the password can be found in the Guest Information in your room, or on your card accompanying your room key.

Ensuring the comfort of your stay…

Housekeeping

Please make Reception aware of any queries you have about your room. We would rather rectify anything to ensure your comfort, than find out at the end of your stay.

Your room will be serviced daily, unless you display a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door. By displaying the sign, the Housekeeping team know not to disturb you, but will also not be able to gain entry to change towels or stock up your Tea & Coffee.

In our attempts to be environmentally friendly, we ask that the towels are only put in the bath to be changed when required.

Should there be any significant damage to the room, or it’s contents, the Hotel reserve the right to serve a penalty depending on the damage caused.

We may to gain entry to your room for necessary works to be carried out. We will always try to notify you beforehand, however, in an unlikely event of an emergency, this may not be possible.

Keycard Access

Your key card is operated by holding the card to the door handle, and it should flash green to let you in.

This also operates the bar door, adjacent to the front door [which is locked between the hours of 11pm-7am]. In the interest of your fellow guests, please attempt to close the door as softly as possible so that it does not slam.

Should you lose your key card please notify the front desk immediately so that your lock may be re-coded. Please return your key card to the front desk upon check-out.

How Many Beds

It is important to let us know before your stay, whether you require a double bed, or two single beds in your Double/Twin room.

This may not be possible in some room types(i.e. Small Doubles), and therefore it is vital to read the room information or ask the Hotel to ensure comfort.

The Family rooms hold up to 5 people. This can either be as a double and 3 singles, or 5 singles.

The Self-Catering Apartments can hold up to 4 people. This can either be as a double or 2 singles (in bedroom), and/or a divan and/or sofa bed in the separate living area.

We remove beds to allow space when there are fewer occupants.

It is important that we know how many people will be occupying the room. In the unlikely event of a fire, or other emergency, any unannouced guests will not be accounted for. This also affects the cost of the room.

Check in/Check out

Please inform us if you are arriving/departing between 11.00pm and 7.00am.

Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00.

If you are due to arrive earlier than the check in time, there is a chance you may be able to check in earlier if your room is ready.

You are welcome to leave your bags in the hotel whilst you explore the island, and/or use our facilities until your room is ready, or before you leave.

Guests are requested to settle their accounts the previous evening if departing before 7.00 am . Payment may also be made by cash and most Credit or Debit cards.

If you prefer to settle by BACS: Sort Code 55-91-00 Account no. 12639184 Welbeck Hotel Ltd. Isle of Man Bank Current Account.

Due to the fact that many visitors arrive early in the morning, guests are asked to note that rooms must be vacated by 11.00 am on the day of departure.
In the event of a room not being vacated (without prior arrangements having been made) the management reserves the right to move all personal belongings and cannot accept responsibility for inconvenience or loss that may occur. Luggage may be left with us.

To call between rooms, simply dial the room number required. For Reception, please call ‘604’ however please be aware in busier periods, you may expect a delay.

Depending on your mobile phone network, it may not work on the Isle of Man.

There are local phone companies, Sure & Manx Telecom, where you can get a temporary SIM, should you require it.

Your hotel phone only allows for internal calls.

Please ask at Reception should you need to call an external number, and we can provide a handset.

Access Statement

Access Statement

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately
describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

  • Situated up a small hill (6.5m of ascent too front door,) Mona Drive, just off the middle of Central Promenade, The Welbeck Hotel, Restaurant & Apartments is the ideal venue for both business and leisure travellers.
  • There is a bus stop for the Airport route (1,2,11,12) about 200m away and although unfortunately, there is no allocated disability place, there is street parking around the Hotel.
  • Because of the incline of the road, there is no slope at all on the ramp to the front door where there is a small lip to negotiate to access the Hotel.
  • The Rosebery Bar & the Restaurant are both on ground level without the need to negotiate any steps and there is a disabled toilet.
  • Unfortunately our lift is not large enough to accommodate a wheelchair but on request, we are able to provide a chair to sit in and we will remove the self-closer from your door.
  • There are now 5 rooms with a step-in Shower and 1 wet room.
  • Help with luggage is available at all times.
  • Unfortunately, due to the Victorian construction of the Welbeck Apartments building, none of the self catering units has wheelchair access.

For further information, please contact the Hotel on 01624 675663 or email mail@welbeckhotel.com

Getting to the Welbeck

Bus

There are several buses that run from the front of the airport, to the bottom of Empress Drive. When boarding the bus, the drivers are usually helpful and pleasant, and will let you know which stop you need if you tell them where you are staying. There is a slight incline to the flat, which is where you will see the Welbeck. We have a ramp after the steps.

Click here for the links to bus and rail timetables.

Walk

The Sea Terminal is only a 15 minute walk across the promenade (depending on ability).

Taxi

There are also taxis which tend to be extremely efficient. We generally use ‘Telecabs’. Their number is +44 (0)1624 629191.

Driving

When driving from the Sea Terminal, take a left at the roundel after the large Gaiety Theatre/Villa Marina complex, up ‘Broadway’. Take a right at the traffic lights on to Victoria Road, and carry on until you get to the crescent of houses on your left. Mid way, there is a turn to your right down Mona Drive, where you will find the Welbeck on the right hand side.

Parking

You can usually park within 70-80 metres outside of the hotel. Street parking around the Hotel is free and unrestricted. There are only three houses on our part of Mona Drive, so the hill acts as a good overflow during busy periods. Unfortunately there is no car park as the area was built in Victorian times.

When parking elsewhere, please be mindful of restrictions in parking ‘zones’. You may need a ‘Parking Disc’ which Reception may have, or available at any petrol station or the Sea Terminal Welcome Centre. There are car parks dotted around Douglas, and information can be found here.

Under 2s

We do not charge for children under 2. We are required to be aware of all occupants in the unlikely event of fire, so please let us know.

Travel cots are available as a complimentary special request item through the front desk. The number of available cots is limited and will be provided on a first come, first served basis.

You may bring your own baby listening devices but we take no responsibility for their function.

Safes & Your Security

All rooms have a safe that is large enough to take most laptops and the doors are protected by VingCard which has an entry audit. Please note that no name or personal information of any description besides your leaving date is stored on your keycard.

  1. Don’t answer the door in a hotel or motel room without verifying who is there. If a person claims to be an employee, call the front desk and ask if someone from their staff is supposed to have access to your room and for what purpose.
  2. Close the door securely whenever you are in your room and use all of the locking devices provided.
  3. Do not needlessly display guest room keys in public or carelessly leave them on restaurant tables, at the swimming pool, or other places where they might be stolen.
  4. Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or expensive jewelery.
  5. Do not invite strangers to your room for any reason.
  6. Place all valuables in the hotel or motel safety deposit box.
  7. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
  8. Check to see that any doors or windows are closed.
  9. If you are traveling with children, provide adult supervision and know their whereabouts at all times.
  10. If you see any suspicious activity, please report your observations to management.

Hotel Room Temperature

The radiators are thermostatic and can be adjusted to suit your needs.

Fans can be requested from the Hotel Reception. We have several in supply, however these are provided on a first come, first serve basis.

The safety feature and/or locks on your windows can be unlocked by the Housekeeping or Reception team.

Self-Catering Apartments

Our spacious apartments are fully self catering, yet benefit from all the facilities of the hotel. With fully fitted kitchen and dining areas and some with sea views our apartments are a favourite with families.

It is important to let us know before your stay, whether you require a double bed, or two single beds. When housing up to 4 people (maximum). This can either be:

  • A double in the bedroom, with a single bed and sofa bed in the separate lounge
  • Two single beds in the bedroom, a single bed and sofa bed in the separate lounge

We remove beds to allow space when there are fewer occupants.

PLEASE NOTE The apartments only have a small lift from the 1st floor. Due to the age of the building, this was all that was viable when building the lift at the back of the apartment block. Therefore, people with mobility issues may find difficulty negotiating the stairs.

HEATING & TEMPERATURE CONTROL

We have gas boilers in each of our self catering apartments (7 in total), all have safety inspections in accordance with the Gas Safety (installation and user) Regulations and we have certificates for each one, we also have CO2 alarms on each boiler.

This is set on ‘timer’ as the most energy saving option, with the dial in for ‘ON’ and out for ‘OFF’. The radiators are thermostatic, so please change the temperature to suit. You can find the operating instructions booklet here.

Laundry

During your stay, if there is significant damage to the room, bedding, towels etc. you may be charged for extra cleaning or replacement of items. This is dependent on whether the room is able to be let following any incidents. This is down to management discretion.

We offer the convenience of the launderette which is located in our apartments building, which is the adjoining property from the bar.

There is a flight of stairs to negotiate before going through the glass door, and to your left (opposite the lift) you will find a coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer. The machines take a £1 coin, and we can provide detergent if necessary.

To avoid a fire hazard, please ensure the fluff is removed from the dryer after each use, and pockets emptied.

Should you have an accident and spillage occurs, it is important to notify Reception so that the Housekeeping team can deal with it straightaway.

There is also a ‘Dry Cleaning’ service about 120 metres away from the Hotel. We are not affiliated with this service.

Extra Guests/Beds

Please check the number of persons in each room that you have booked. Should more guests arrive at the Hotel than have appears on the confirmation, you will be subject to extra charges, or we may not have the beds. A small double means just that, and cannot be a twin.

If you need any pre-visit information please get in touch. We also welcome feedback from our guests.
